tldr, coming in guns blazing because of meaning you ascribe to a post that isn't actually there, isn't a way to win the hearts and minds of people on your side. if you always assume malace you'll just have people JFL¹ instead of guess if they'll be randomly stabbed because of people reading into things. people who ascribe to your end of ~*~ideology~*~ probably aren't opposed to you, until they become opposed to you. break the cycle instead of subjecting people to it.
I'm tired of having people on my side shoot me in their foot.
[1]: Just Fucking Leave
sometimes things are best left unspoken between strangers, and you do not have to have an opinion on every opinion that crosses your view; even and especially perhaps if you have a strong initial reaction to it
at the end of the day you will change the behavior of people with one of two things: force or compassion. compassion will only work on those who are receptive and have a connection with you, and force makes an enemy out of whoever you use it on.
in this world, consider carefully, please, that the stranger you harm may have been a friend with a little different kind of work.
have your standards and enforce them within yourself and refine them among those you are connected to, but the act of internet warfare is almost entirely and wholly cop-brain shit if your plan is to make strangers into examples for strangers on how not to act, with demands of proper comportment that will accomplish nothing but misery for everyone involved.
i know this is dangerously close to discourse and i ask for conversation instead of battle, kind strangers. reserve judgment for your enemies and ask yourself if you need more of those in this world before you act, on cohost or anywhere
