In my previous cohost I mentioned titles from the publisher Cosmi including Forbidden Forest, Aztect Challenge, and Monster Trivia (referred to as The Trivia Monster in game). Who I really should be spotlighting here is Paul Norman. Paul Norman is one of the American heroes of the Commodore 64 scene, with 10 C64 games credited to him and 24 games in total spanning from 1983 to 2003. Forbidden Forest and Aztect Challenge are both from 1983, just a year after the C64 debuted so he was already challenging the C64 this early on. Not only a programmer, Norman designed and composed for most of his games.
Besides the aforementioned titles, he also made Super Huey UH-IX, Beyond the Forbidden Forest, Caverns of Khafka, Slinky, Defcon 5, Chernobyl: Nuclear Power Plan Simulation, The President is Missing, Super Huey II, Navcom 6: The Persian Gulf Defense, and Navel Seal all on the C64. Outside of the C64, he worked on DOS titles like Presumed Guilty, Murder Makes Strange Deadfellows, and the Case of the Cautious Condor, while on Sega Genesis he was designer on Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. His last credits would be "Additional Work & Thanks" on 2 Windows revivals of his classics Forbidden Forest and Super Huey. Funnily enough, these 2 would be developed by Webfoot Technologies and published by Cosmi who we just talked about last cohost.
Paul Norman, we salute you. If you'd like to see some of these games in action I'll provide links to my vods below. The 1st includes Forbidden Forest (1:39:24 & 4:22:01 and Monster Trivia (2:08:11, flashing warning for when the monster appears) while the 2nd has a complete playthrough of Aztec Challenge (2:27:36.
