Baby's Day Out (based on the movie) comes to mind. Also, I think Eek! the Cat had an escort mission wherein Eek! had to keep an old lady from falling into danger. And oh yeah, Whistler's Brother is a classic in the genre you just made up.

From what I recall, Eek! was a retooled port of the earlier Sleepwalker, with most of the stages changed or moved around. I've heard of but not seen the Baby's Day Out game, but I'm not familiar Whistler's Brother!

I'm always delighted to learn that there are a ton of games I've not heard of that could easily fall under any given genre I've dreamt up. I admit I was tempted to include Lemmings under this one, but that's a genre unto itself.

Stage 4 of Stinkoman 20X6 required you to protect 1-Up (anime Homestar) with a giant stone fist. That's all I can think of that's germane to the subject lol
