My first thought upon seeing this thing was "neat!", followed by a much later "wait what" when I realized that this throwaway controller accessory from the early 90s featured modern controller ergonomics that wouldn't become standard until the 360 controller. Not even the Playstation, N64, or Sega's various controllers had rounded grips quite like this thing. I love seeing iterative design evolution like this, and it makes me wonder what the first instance of modern controller ergonomics was.
This thing also has shades of the Nintendo Switch going on with how the grips attach to the controller, so this being an NES accessory seems all that more appropriate.
