A Rise of the Triad remaster followed by Quake 2, both within my birthday? Couldn't ask for a better gift!
Decided to play it with my Switch Gamecube controller since I only have access to a laptop trackpad at the mo, and it detected it right out the box. Turning and aiming is tight and responsive, which is good given how reflexive Quake 2's combat is. The whole thing feels like a natural fit for the venerable Gamecube controller, right down to crouch being on B and jump being on the ol' Jumbo A™️.
Immediately started up the new episode, and it's fantastic so far. Digging the classic episodic structure they opted for, all selected from a Quake style hub map. It is insanely brutal, even on normal, but still doable.
Player models and maps seem to be supported, but mods need to be recompiled for the new x64 architecture. Makes me wonder what the first supported mod will be, and whether Trenchbroom supports Quake 2.
Now please give us a Blood 2 remaster next, Nightdive!
