it's also the color of a glitched and/or broken MPEG-2 stream, which, if you've been anywhere near broadcasting, whether an ENG van or a satcom teleport, a TV transmission facility, a cable headend office or a studio's control room, that color is death.

oh, also ATSC. 90% of the time, you'll be fighting with this color when your antenna TV signal drops in the US.

Given that (the mistakes of) Victorian fashion, couture, and design was still within living memory, that could track!
The opening chord of "Erlkönig", composed by Schubert in 1815, as a musical shorthand for sinister evil was present in or referenced by cartoons into the 1990s.

At least in German, "poison green" (giftgrün) referring to a specific shade of green occurs in the dictionary of the Brothers Grimm, citing a publication from 1588.

My favorite shade of green! Always been a big fan of bad guy green. I definitely didn’t know it was historically horribly deadly though. Honestly? I think that makes it better. Like these bad guys are giving off this green thats very color should strike fear, and thats HARD AS FUCK.
