And for once I actually mean that. Finland has finally passed an updated version of its for (extremely outdated) trans rights legislation. This means that from now on transgender people are able to change their government registered gender without doctor's consultation and it is no longer required that they be sterile before being able to do so (like I said, EXTREMELY outdated). In practice this means the only thing needed to change your registered gender is notifying the necessary authorities.

This was an update that was sorely needed and it's good to see PM Marin and her party actually sticking to their guns and seeing it through. Credit must also be given to the countless activists and trans rights advocates who have been working for years to make this update happen. It's still not a perfect law, but it's a good step forward.
