the "people in a dark room describing the shape of an elephant" phenomenon is real. with no algorithm and no full-text search or global feed (the tag doesn't count and should not be used), it's impossible to evaluate the shape of the website from a single perspective. if i were to describe what Cohost is solely from the posts I see, the biggest identifiable slice of the pie chart would be "TF fiction" and i'm not even into that.

cohost: the site for TF enthusiasts

Anecdotal evidence: yesterday I saw two people post something along the lines of “I like cohost because there isn’t any vagueposting, unlike on Twitter or Tumblr,” while also seeing multiple other people complaining about “cohost’s culture of constantly vagueposting”

I also saw a lot of TF fiction

• You can’t use the emoji anymore
• Timestamps only display the hours/minutes, no date
• 4 MB attachment limit

i follow people because i wanna see what they post, not what they enjoyed... or at least, when my feed is clogged with shares, it just feels awful

plus there's people here that i like that share spicy posts occasionally that cause me psychic damage, and i could just not see them if there were any controls about this...

Here are two feature requests about this to support:

• Add the hide shares/hide replies buttons to the main timeline
• Disable shares from a specific account
