i genuinely love Mystic Quest for being ambitious about trying new things and branching far from the established core design of Final Fantasy games (at the time it was made)
not all of it lands and the implementation of everything they tried isn't always spot-on, but they had the audacity to challenge sanctified design elements like damage rolls and random encounters in a way that i think was vindicated by the direction a lot of future designs ended up going
oh yeah and it has good as hell music
