"i block anyone with no age in bio" lady i have a livejournal account that's older than you
updating all my profiles to "i remember the VCL" and seeing how many youngsters confuse it with a traffic cone
also the site is somehow still around

i can't go to hell - i'm all out of vacation days. i watch space rocks and yell at computers for my day job. probably too old for any of this
Â
i think i might be burned out on internet social. it's hard to keep doing it. it's hard to even maintain the amount of attention i'm already giving it
Â
i am the cause of most of my own problems
Â
furthermore, capitalism must be destroyed

for real though it's definitely some kinda generational divide, sitting here on the side of the fence that grew up learning not to volunteer too much personal info
yeah and like it's actually kinda hard to land on a universally consistent place because i understand why people do it, especially on platforms with no age gating/controls and especially if they are posting irl nsfw stuff
but like at the same time it is trivially easy to just lie on a profile so practically, it like, ends up being little more than a kind of shibboleth
I get where they're coming from and I'm willing to compromise a bit, but only to the degree of giving a general age cohort to establish I'm in the "has memories of the 80s" region
There’s a certain stage of life I think where putting actual personal information in your bio feels silly
I feel like this can just be abbreviated to "I have a livejournal account".
Mine turned 20 last year. I'm not happy about it.
oh but i have two gmail accounts. one is old, sure, but the other is... oh. oh no. the other is also old.
I’m not the oldest person on this website but I’m surely in the 99th percentile.
i get wanting to know if someone is over 18/21 and i get people being comfy knowing the age of the people the engage with.
But i've seen people DMing others for age verification and it's like bruh... Patreon and PayPal had to fight me tooth and nail for my photo ID, i'm not giving it to a random Twitter user to prove i'm 29.
What gets me is how incredibly passive-aggressive they get about it, like "It's not hard to put your age in your bio you know"
Fuck off kid, the difficulty isn't the point. You don't get to make those kinds of demands of strangers.
hm, my runescape character hit 18 years old within the past year or two. wonder how she's doing
you know, I wasn’t expecting “the youths are too puritanical and we need to convince them to calm the fuck down about self-policing” to be the problem our generation has with the next
