hello, ex-coposters, and everyone else skimming through these archives after the End of the Chworld. welcome to the bird zone! (im the bird)
i'm a not particularly noteworthy technology avian who works in academic science doing such activities as:
- programming (bad)
- sysadmin (bad)
- analysis (bad)
- being a bird (im super good at this!)
- supporting scientists (bad) trying to use any of the aforementioned things
- being very very tired, just absolutely exhausted 24/7 (i am actually very good at this!)
i'm not actually an egret! that's just a funny name. weirdly, almost nobody else seems to use it, so if you see it on another site, there's a reasonable chance it's also me there as well!
most people call me "egrets" or just "bird"
my very cool birdsona for attractive people is actually a Grey Catbird [audubon.org]
At feeders, will eat a bizarre assortment of items including doughnuts, cheese, boiled potato, and corn flakes.
i really enjoy nature and specifically bird photography, although I haven't really been able to do much of it lately. sometimes i'll post some of them under the tag #birdposting, though
i apologize if i wasn't very follow-ey or sometimes slow to respond or just not feelin' up to replying to things at all. i think I'm so very close to just being a complete social media burnout. i needed to keep my follow list small while i was here to avoid burning out. there were so many cool people on this site and i appreciated seeing you around even if our social circles never intersected in the end
i don't think i'm moving to any other social media sites after this. i don't want to return to viral posts and clout chasing and people thrown in an internet argument arena by dark patterns. i don't want to return to microblogging. tumblr was never my jam
