Someone on a different social media site asked this question....
"Would you accept $200k but you're not allowed to do anything productive or that might be considered "work," or work for $700k but it's 50 hours a week every week
I saw something similar to this and I'm curious"
Interesting. My problem with the $200k proposal is that I bet I would want to do something that would be considered "productive" to someone. I love acting. Would acting in community theatre count as "work" or "being productive." I would do some volunteer "work" as well.
Like Mutual Aid and community work. Even just playing video games, I would want to stream myself playing video games because I enjoy streaming. But that is "work" to someone.
As for the $700k one, I already work 66 hours or more a week. Even more if you include the streaming I do on Sunday. If streaming counts as "work." So I guess the $700k one would be what I take. I would love to just work 50 hours a week instead of 66 or more.
The reason I work as much as I do is because I am trying to support about 6 friends with various needs. Most of which are in poverty and disabled. And yet, I haven't been able to support them at the level I want to. I wish I could give them more.
The $700k would cover them and then some. I could pay for their new computer or any emergency thing they need. Some of my trans friends have been off HRT for years. $700k would easily pay for that.
With the $700k, I would give a lot to those asking for help in http://charitylinks.page, it is a google doc I somewhat manage with a friend that contains many different links to folks' various GoFundMe, Venmo, Paypal, and other links for those asking for help.
Hell, after taxes and all, I would look through GoFundMe and fund many folks' needs.
And if I would work just 50 hours a week, I would stream on my time off and try to grow that.
So I guess, I would go for the $700k option.
