  • It's neat.
  • The screen sure is bright (I got an OLED).
  • The vent briefly hissed like some kind of cat snake during the initial updates.
  • It smells like electronics.
  • I'm glad I picked up a Bluetooth keyboard earlier for certain desktop stuff. I didn't look up the shortcut for the on-screen keyboard in desktop until just now.
  • OpenMW runs pretty well.
  • I still need to run some offline testing once I've gotten things installed.

I still enjoy Morrowind especially including being able to strut around as a totally nude lizard person without mods and still be able to take and deal hits with a decent character setup. It's actually been a tradition for my Argonian characters there to not wear pants for a good while at least. Now I know this also applies to Larian games at least between DOS2 and BG3. They know what's up. Also Gex of course. Perhaps if there's other not-just-porn games with this feature I might need to look into those.

Regardless of how innovative Starfield really is, it's been a good time to at least look at Bethesda's back catalog, like with Elder Scrolls. Daggerfall Unity hit 1.0 and is free to set up, OpenMW for Morrowind is still a thing and can run on a number of things including a Steam Deck, and Oblivion's $2 USD on GOG for a little bit longer. If you don't want GOG it's still cheap on Steam. If you don't want Steam, then, well, there's other ways.

If you have a modern gaming PC with an optical disc drive built into the machine itself, and you've used it to install games, then we have at least that in common.

For the record I've at least installed Morrowind and Quake 2 on my PC this way, even if it was mainly to run them in remade engines with the installed files.
