realising that if I find someone having a fictional species sona odd I’m judging them for looking at a weird animal and going “yeah” when that’s not actually a distinct category, just how a fursona works

I do not directly participate in furry culture but I do think it’s cool how they’re collaboratively making new fictional animal species with clearly established traits. I hope that the memetic wheel spins until they enter the general culture and are seen as “real” in the same way that a dragon is “real” to a ten year old

I really dislike the Protogen and Primagen creation directives. Not being able to have specific traits unless the species creators auction them, or a Primagen at all without an auction.
It might not be enforceable by law, but that being a rule really brings me icky vibes.
I can't explain it, to be honest. I logically know that it doesn't really matter, I think that intellectual property is kinda bullshit but capitalism is also bullshit so artists need that protection to ensure survival, and I'm not under any illusion that the copyright world would be any different had they (primagen creators) chosen not to make this rule...
I wish I could rationalize my feelings, but there's a big disconnect between my rational brain and my feelings here... I shouldn't care about this, but I do.
