Following up on getting my car bunk ready I finally got a trip planned to go see a small Native American mound site nearby and camp over night in a park. For whatever reason it was a very quiet night, there was only one other campsite on my loop that had anyone in it.

Except for all the food sticking, my meal plan went off without a major hitch. Quesadillas in the evening and some pancakes in the morning. Shredded some cheese and home and brought it with a can of chunk chicken and a little container of salsa. Just mix all that up and add to tortillas.

I could be neater and more organized about containers to make loading and unloading faster. There was a little haphazard "where did I put that?" but I wasn't losing anything. Maybe I'll get a roof bag to throw things on at night to save some space inside. Water worked out fine, I got some big six gallon jerry can-looking containers years ago for hurricane preparedness reasons (tap stays running longer than bottled water stays on shelves) and a smaller container with a spigot that is very convenient but I have just never trusted the seal on it to stand up to heat or jostling. But it's more convenient than filling from the big jug.

It was lucky that the camp host came by a few times to check on people pulling in because the cleaners did come through to check on the restrooms... And then left all of them locked. This time I specifically chose a site near the restrooms, in the future I should look into some kind of privacy screen for changing.

I pulled some insect screens over the windows of the car for night to leave them down partway. It was a still evening so there was little cross-flow through the car. I ran a little USB fan off a battery pack and eventually realized I could use its wire base to hang it from the coat hangar hook so it pulled right from outside and blow directly over me. The battery didn't last all night, but it lasted long enough to reach the mid-70s lows. A small herd of deer were crossing the campground in the middle of the night when I went to the restroom. I haven't been sleeping well anyway and relying on that Mythbusters-ism that laying there restfully is still good so it's hard to say how much comfort was really playing into things. Eventually I drifted off listening to the hum of the fan and the chorus of frogs.

Also that lovely view of the lake was like, four campsites down from mine. Big wall of short trees in front of my "lakefront" site.

i... i forgot to bring eggbug to take a picture :eggbug-sob:
