Hmm... next/previous links might get a little wonky, because I do plan on continuing better off alone with another arc but i also want to make "epilogues" that would take place between the two with no particular order to them or story relevance.

Okay so at the end of better off alone IX, I could just put an (epilogue) link and then when I start the next arc also put a (next arc) link after it
and at the start of the epilogue i'll just have, uh.
a (main story) link that goes to......... the first chapter????
okay if I call them side stories and not epilogues i think this way works. and I can just link between them at the bottom of each with a link to the main story at the top?
