but like, man, i haven't been able to give a shit about magic the gathering since like... zendikar rising? not even the phyrexians got me back in. do you know how hard you have to fuck up to not make me show up for horrifying machine dommy mommy and the gruulfriends getting back together in canon?

there's old old school magic stories such as "here are all of the characters from our dnd games" and "what if we just did arabian nights? that's public domain, we're allowed"

anyway chandra and nissa technically existed as early as... 2006? I wanna say? and then became part of the main character superhero squad the gatewatch in like 2015, which was at the time considered god awful and the death of magic story, but the magic story has died like at least three more times since then so we didn't know how good we had it

No see I haven't touched anything Magic since uhhhh... *checks the internet, squints* 1994? Maybe? Potentially 1993.
Arabian nights sort of vaguely rings a bell, but I don't think I remember there being a lot of Story story involved.
On the other hand, we've established my memory is shit, and not just because I'm An Old.

Mmm. Its a bit tragic that magic at one point had all this potential and now has just... wasted it all and for nothing. I sometimes get wistful for what could have been.
