Lol I forgot to make a character sheet like I said I would. You can find it here now, and I'll put a link to it in the doc proper so you don't have to scrounge up this share if you send this to any friends.

I suspect that's going to be the fate of like, 95% of experiences with Terra Philia: "No clue who I'd play this with, but sure, this is fun." A "stretch goal" of mine in the final product is to figure out enough rolling tables etc that you could conceivably use it just as a story prompt generator in the Terra Philia setting.

Made a mothgirl sniper (because both moths and snipers are intrinsically horny to me). Her plan A really is to stealthily get a clean shot and slab it, but with D8 Vigor, no fight ranks and a bit of monster affinity, her plan B is to Face Consequences.

She's got big eyes and sensitive antennae, she's quiet but not shy (she'd rather write you a letter about how the sex was good than say it to your face), her interests are being surprised from behind, voyeur, and near misses (both in terms of being discovered and return fire) and she doesn't yet know that she's into flame, hypnosis and being exposed.

I would like to request a version of Educational Opening that's explicitly for attacks at a distance rather than fencing-flavoured, because I think something like a near miss with dragon's breath would be a lot of neuron activation for her. It would also be nice if you split the entire parry system along fight/shoot lines solely because I personally find the idea of a character who's capable of protecting themselves at a distance but vulnerable up close to be hot.

I'll keep that in mind! I will say, Educational Opening and Counterattack both apply to ranged attacks as well as melee attacks; I can probably rephrase Counterattack to figure out a ranged-compatible "what does an Accident look like" since a major goal for me is "there is no such thing as 'you miss, next player.' " I could also probably use Edges or Hindrances to do a "you're better against one attack style but worse with the other" trade-off. That said, I'm trying to avoid leaning too hard into combat rules as a primary focus (much as I'm inheriting a lot of them from SWADE). Like, SWADE has an Edge that says "subtract 2 from all ranged attacks made against you" (i.e. increase your Parry by 2 against ranged attacks), but I didn't port it over because it just... didn't feel interesting in the context of Terra Philia.

I really like the kind of story you're trying to tell with your mothgirl sniper, though, so I'm definitely going to keep her in mind as I iterate on the design. Hopefully you'll feel appropriately Seen™ in future iterations of the document. I'm glad you enjoyed the systems enough to not only try making something, but then share it with me! <3

Yeah no I think it's super cool what you're doing, I resonated with a lot of the stuff you said in there about like, growing up with the looming threat of contemporary male sexuality hanging overhead, and finding Corruption of Champions and its ilk liberating even if they seemed built to be bastions of all that because they were such overflowing sandboxes that I could still process and explore my feelings about the sexual impulses I was stuck with inside of them anyway, and I think it'd be wonderful to make something that iterates off of that which is 'for us' intentionally rather than accidentally.

Another thing this character has going on is that their culture of origin is an insectoid hive that is kind of hivemindesque, but there isn't much in the way of biology underpinning that; it's socially enforced with maybe a bit of pheromones. That's represented by Common Bond because of the expectation of coordination and selflessness, and Delusional 1 because she has trouble believing her coworkers don't have a second, microexpressional implied level of communication beneath the one they actually intended, like they would have in the hive.

She didn't do terribly well in that environment because she felt fenced in by other people's lives all the time, she feels a lot better out on her own doing fieldwork, and a lot of her fetishes are about like, privacy as a concept, regardless of which side of the one way mirror she's on.

But I still took Curious as a personal hindrance, because that just feels very free for a voyeur character. Maybe a contradiction she'll resolve eventually. Probably not.

She'd likely react very strongly, probably unpredictably, to creatures that demonstrated actual telepathic or mental assimilation type effects.

I also would definitely want to pick up Bounce Back eventually, because one of the intrinsically hot things about moths is how many bits they have that they can lose and still proactively Be Moth about stuff after.

i just wanna let you that while i haven't gotten a chance to really dig into the mechanics (esp since i've never played around with SW), i want to make it known that i love what you're doing here and i would love to see it grow!! i've always found CoC to have an awesome core idea but could really use some sprucing up, and this feels like it to me. always here to rally new TTRPGs and i hope you can feel motivated enough to work on it further. and if i ever manage to pick out a couple horny friends, would def be happy to report how this plays. thank you again for all your awesome work!

Glad to hear it. :) It's been motivating to have people telling me about the characters they've made, so I'm probably going to get back to Terra Philia sooner than I initially planned. I still gotta spend at least SOME time away though, 'cuz I've been putting off some of my internal-motive projects for uhhhhhhh too long. >.> Keep an eye either on my page or the #Terra Philia tag though and you'll be sure to hear when I hit the next stage of dev (which might just include World Host rules for ya :P).

Hey Terra Philia kicks so much ass, I've been rotating a character design in my head for the last week and I keep rereading the rules document b/c it makes me happy

I am particually excited about how ace-friendly you made the arousal mechanics, it's great to have a horny mechanic that maps well to my experience of sexuality (or the lack therof, depending)
