I’ve been more a lurker here pretty much the entire time I’ve been on cohost - at least in part because the little bloggy project I intended to start fell by the wayside because of liiiife - but it’s New Year’s Day, 2023 is over, and I’m stuck in the look-back-and-look-ahead fugue state so fuck it.
2023 - What Do I Feel Like I Did?
Got a new job. The previous one was a legitimately awful place to work, so while my new job is dull it is a huge step up in mental health. And that’s before the stuff like actually having health insurance for once!
Published some videos on YouTube. I had some ideas, executed on them pretty ok for hopping in without any real writing or editing experience, and a couple of them actually got views & people saying they enjoyed them. Feels nice!
Started talking to some old friends I’d lost touch with. I always have trouble stopping myself from being reclusive as fuck so chatting and playing games a few times has been really nice, even if it’s only a start at patching things up.
2024 - What Do I Want To Do?
Engage in my non-media pastimes more. I want to get back into drawing, and actually practice and improve.
Get in a habit of regular, light exercise. Nothing major, just moving for future heart health. I’m in my 30s, it’s past time.
Make another few videos. I’m never going to get in, like, a monthly schedule & build an audience (nor do I really want to) but I have a few ideas I think might be fun and want to work on them for funsies.
Try and find & participate in some form of local “third space”. I’d love new local friends, you know?
Get my kitchen under control. It’s a mess, it’s inconvenient, and shouldn’t be too hard in a way that a whole “get the entire house clean & keep it” would be.
And I also want to just… post around and engage with people on cohost more, because it’s a very cozy feeling digital space with neat people.
Here’s to 2024, it’s almost certainly going to SUCK ASS as an election year in a country sprinting Olympic-style into fascism but that just makes it all the more important to do helpful things for myself & help others how I can, yeah?
