@lupi asked:

which rocket stage is your favorite? not like "the first stage/the second stage," let's get granular. just an individual stage, like:

  • IUS,
  • Shuttle-Centaur,
  • PAM, Delta-K,
  • Normal Centaur,
  • Transtage,
  • Centaur III,
  • some individual variant of the Titan III/IV SRMs,
  • Centaur V,
  • Agena,
  • DCSS (4 meter),
  • Photon,
  • DCSS (5 meter),
  • Extended Long Tank Thor,
  • Ariane V's cryogenic upper stage,
  • Atlas III's core stage,
  • the H-II in whichever variant makes that whistle from the SRB mount
  • F9 Block 1 First Stage

there are more. I'm just trying to make an obnoxious list.

oooough that's a tough question! Picking An Favorite is hard, so just gonna give like, a rough top list:

  • Proton first stage: 10/10 shape, great Horse's Ass story behind it, all around pretty neat
  • DCSS: great shape, lovely greebles, reliable workhorse
  • Titan IIIC boosters: comedically oversized, wild fluid-injection TVC, hilarious
  • Transtage: funky asymmetrical design, has "trans" in the name, how could I not
  • Soyuz core + booster combination: absolute classic, beautiful separation, iconic shape
