but it's like tag. you touch someone else and you get to use other pronouns again and they have to be it/its until they tag somebody else
Looks like I caught the new pronouns going around. Yeah, I'm it/she all over now.
Hmm, having Thoughtsโข about designing a world for VR social platforms again
Thinking of something based on the sort of sci-fi worldbuilding stuff I've been piecing together in my head for a long while. It'd be set on the extremely-heavily-urbanized former capital world of an interstellar empire, which was almost entirely deserted during a civil war (and the ensuing collapse of said empire) decades prior; a combination of combat-induced kessler syndrome and a rogue planetary defense network means that there hasn't been any travel to or from the surface since, and while the population has started to increase again, it's still in the form of pockets of life amidst a decaying hyperurban wreck.
The central feature of the world (at least in its "first draft" form) would be a massive structural pillar, intended to support a huge platform above the cramped buildings below that would in turn support high-class development. The platform (at least in this area) was never built before the deserting of the planet; however, the infrastructure attached to the pillar was repurposed once the site started to be repopulated, with a colorful, ramshackle assembly of buildings sprouting on the sides of the pillar and a set of transmission equipment (as well as a viewpoint) being set up on the half-finished top.
The spawn point would probably be at some point on the uppermost floors of one of the surrounding buildings, with a zipline (i.e. teleporter - or perhaps a cable car if I can figure out how to do something that fancy) to the pillar itself. This would give you a good view of the pillar as you enter the world, and be high up enough to allow descending the pillar to offer a journey of discovery, while being low down enough that you only start to really see the surroundings once you start climbing upwards.
The buildings on the pillar would be warm, cozy places, as a contrast with the decaying sprawl around them; lots of comfortable nooks, interconnections across levels, and soft colorful decorations. The pillar itself would have an industrial aesthetic, but transformed; bare concrete painted with murals, string lights hung between pipes, all that sort of stuff.
