I haven't talked about it here yet, but a couple of days ago I brought in an abandoned kitten.
She's lovely, and affectionate, and energetic, and very chatty, but over the last couple of days it's become increasingly apparent that this poor girl's going to require more than just a warm cardboard box and a good meal, so I started a GoFundMe to help cover veterinary costs, as well as food, kitten formula, etc
EDIT: Unfortunately, we took her to the vet and the xray showed her condition was even more dire than we had feared. We had no choice but to ease her suffering and put her down.
Thank you to those who shared this and who donated.
I'm sorry, Noel. I love you and I miss you.
I'm not sure how I should handle this post now that it's gotten around.
Unfortunately, we took her to the vet this morning and had her xrayed. Only a few minutes later we were brought in to see the result, and the prognosis was dire. She wasn't pregnant. There were no kittens. Her bowel so impacted as a result of her damaged tail that it had filled her abdominal cavity and ultimately ruptured. There was nothing they could do but ease her suffering and put her down.
My heart is utterly broken.
I'm so sorry, Noel. You deserved so much better. You deserved to live a long and spoiled life. You deserved to be a happy and playful kitten in a warm and loving home.
I wish so badly I could have done more, but at least I was able to offer you some love and comfort in your final days.
