Set at a university, an unnamed researcher is trying to rekindle human spirit, assisted by a student. It's a comedy with few clear jokes.
The researcher is the sort of mad scientist who confidently talks a lot of apparent nonsense, referencing things like crank science and folklore, but her inventions will work and do strange things to the human mind. The student is quite baffled by her, but knows the researcher gets a lot of money, so she hopes to be able to take the researcher's job. But it becomes apparent that the researcher is creepily reshaping the student in her own image.
I was drawn to this by the art style. The writing wasn't easy to get into. For the first few chapters it was hard to feel what was supposed to be entertaining about it, but it did click after that.
I probably ought to check out Kodama Maria Bungaku Shuusei.
