This is half of my late birthday present. The other half is the same thing, but for PS4... I have problems. For some reason Amazon Japan shipped them separately, though the ps4 copy is supposed to show up tomorrow.
It's Dodonpachi Daioujou from Cave, ported by M2 ShotTriggers. Many consider this the best shmup every made, and this conversion...it's ShotTriggers, it's the definitive port. This is easily one of my most anticipated games of this year, so of course it released at the end of it (December 7th was the release date).
Now I just have to wait on more info about their spiritual successor to Radiant Silvergun and Ikaruga, Ubusuna, which they're taking their sweet time with. They also have an original Aleste game in the works. They'll be worth the wait.

Edit: okay, I take it back about JSR. Looking at the trailer closer, it does have the cell sgading. I guess I got mixed up with the quick cuts, but it actually looks pretty dope. Maybe SEGA doesn't hate me. Just thinks I'm meh.

So no Virtua Fighter 6 (maybe it's really early in development, IF it's in development), Golden Axe is 3d instead side scrolling, and Jet Set Radio loses it's graphical style. I'll keep an open mind since they're probably pretty low budget, but the disappointment is real. I was fully prepared for VF6 not being here though. With the success of SF6, MK1, and Tekken 8 next month, it's only a matter of time before VF returns... right? Right SEGA!?
Crazy Taxi could be fun, if the price is right, and they don't change its core gameplay too much.
