fuck WotC for sure
that sure is an interesting legal argument they're attempting to use to cancel the old OGL. I think there's no question that the new edition is going to be under the new OGL, but canceling a "perpetual license" to old editions because it's no longer "authorized" is probably going to court. not that I have any legal expertise lol
I suppose the middle ground legal argument is that there was a perpetual license available, and old works using it are fine, but new works, even based on old editions, are not. Can't help but think GNU is going to get involved in an amicus brief in the court case haha
oh it's not legal at all but Wizards can afford expensive lawyers and most people can't
Sure, but I'd hazard a guess so can Paizo, at a bare minimum, who is among the most adversely impacted, given the royalty BS.
Paizo's an interesting case because it seems like stuff that's already published isn't going to be affected, and they release stuff under their own extremely similar license.
Curious how Pelgrane reacts though given 13th Age 2E is on the horizon and not yet published.
Pathfinder 2nd gen is still an OGL title, so any new supplements will still cause issues.
