It's fucked up, but I think war might be bad, guys.

Char...Char...Char...what's wrong with him. I love when they see an enemy warship suddenly change course to play chicken with them and instantly go "oh fuck it's char"

I don't have a big structured review because I mean, it's Gundam. There's not much I can add to that conversation, except maybe "can we get Amuro some estrogen to calm down". I'd say Char too but this would not actually result in someone any more mentally stable.

To be clear, the reason I moved this up from "to watch eventually" to "let's watch right now" is because I've been calling my favourite characters Char-alikes for years, and specifically want to put a character in his sphere in a game project at some point, so I needed to actually know what I'm talking about. And man...it's fascinating how quixotic he is. Like a dog constantly chasing the latest car that drives by. Killing Garma doesn't even help his revenge plan in the long run, it's just the closest thing he could get his hands on (and get his hands all over, if Yas is to be believed). In the last episode alone, he's like "I've abandoned revenge on the zabis. all I care about is newtypes now. not sure what about them. [amuro tells me we need to kill the zabis] that's stupid I have to kill YOU so I'm the best newtype. assuming I am one I'm just kinda hoping on that. [sayla tells me newtypes should stop fighting each other and work together] that's stupid [falls over] hey amuro newtypes should stop fighting and work together [falls over again] I have to kill the zabis RIGHT NOW"

And also christ, I thought the gay swordfight was from CCA, totally blindsided by it being here. What goes on.

Seriously, great show. Most of the time it really sells you on these kids being stuck in a big pressure cooker that makes them act like the worst versions of themselves, so like of course they're not gonna handle conflict well or have nice teachable resolutions. Show about the problems rather than the solutions. (...mostly. I am going to Get tomino for the shit with mirai and sleggar.)

It's also interesting seeing something that came out after a new hope but before any other star war, so the force at this point was not throwing shit around with your mind, it's just like, y'know, Feeling stuff, man, feeling stuff so good you make the impossible shot from your spaceship with your eyes closed, man. So taking that and running with it in your own direction and making it the entire thing. Amuro's been so fast lately, it's crazy. It's like he's some new type of guy.

Well, anyway. Yeah. Good show. More to follow. Big Zam.

it's legit soooo funny how fans try to make char seem like this complex revolutionary mastermind type of guy when most of the time he's just really winging it and not giving a shit about anything. his speech in the last ep where he switches motivations like 20 times is the best
