I make visual novels! Also play them sometimes. Wish I had time for more of both. I also do a podcast and LPs, because I don't know how to stop myself.
Hell yeah. Their Bluff City episodes are probably a good way in, and they are streaming them now weekly and posting to youtube.
funny enough i did try those episodes and had a tricky time getting through the first one but maybe i should give it another go
Aha I see, that is fair. They're good episodes is the reason people love to recommend them generally. But there's lots of ways in to FatT depending on genre preference, and how much you enjoy the game mechanics or discussions about the narrative.
Yeah it might just be a genre thing, where I'm like not quite as interested in American period piece roleplaying lol Though my main worry is being potentially just struggling with Actual Play podcasts (granted my reasons for thinking that are just due to losing interest in TAZ last year and bouncing off the pilot ep of newest Critical Role season, so for all I know FatT would just be a good one I'd actually enjoy lol)
Yeah a US setting doesn't entrance me generally, the vibes of Bluff City itself is what carries it for me. FatT is definitely a different style to TAZ and CritRole, but whether that's better or worse for you depends lol. A lot of what I enjoy in FatT is them talking through something. Whether that's figuring out how to resolve a situation or what decision a player wants to make for their character. But it very much matters if that's the kind of thing you want. I think those conversations are great if they're to your tastes and I eat it up. But I'd get if that's not what someone is looking for in a podcast.
I mean I def wanna give it a shot because I know a lot of people in the AM server like it and even helped get them in to Gundam. Also I do want to listen to more Austin again in podcast form lol I'll def give it a shot but I might pick one of the earlier sci-fi/fantasy ones (I know starting from the first campaign isn't as advised but lol maybe I will just start from the beginning)
I honestly think starting from the beginning is still pretty good. A little bit rough audio wise, but the transcripts existing helps with that. And they're finding their feet a little bit with doing actual play, but season 1 is still a banger imo.
Yeah I think I remember asking in the discord last year for advice on it but I also get the impression a lot of the fantasy seasons follow up on season 1 anyway so it just seems wise to get to season 1 early on at some point anyway.
Enjoy the ride 🎉 And learn all about what Hadrian did to That Skeleton.
I will! Also I'm glad transcripts seem comprehensive because missing things while listening is def a thing that happens to me when listening to actual play podcasts lol
