I make visual novels! Also play them sometimes. Wish I had time for more of both. I also do a podcast and LPs, because I don't know how to stop myself.

What did you enjoy the most about working on com__et?

I'm still noodling around and figuring out music, so this was the first time I made an actual soundtrack of multiple songs (I'm sure that inexperience shows 😅).

I made the dynamic track first, just with all the layers in one project file and I messed with the levels to test it. I enjoyed that so much I then re-used the instruments and riffs to make the rest of the tracks. It was fun remixing things to fit different moments but still overall feel coherent, especially with the way that the tone shifts.

The main reason I enjoyed it so much is that for 2023 I made a resolution that I wanted to have written one song for a game I was happy with by the end of the year. So writing 5 by June puts me wayyy ahead of schedule.

My hope was to be able to play with music better as part of the core game design. This is harder to do when you're just making small projects and can only seek out royalty free tracks that fit your needs. There's tons of great ones, but you can't get a purpose made set of songs that way.

Plus I still just enjoy listening to the music, so that rules.

(obligatory plug, you can listen to it free on bandcamp:)
