i think ttrpgs should allow respeccing but it should be associated with a final fantasy 4-style "you have to climb a mountain and kill the manifestation of your past self" thing
It'd be a good excuse to go for a hike.

criticallly bear in mind that what made FF4's work is that Dark Knight Cecil used his own HP instead of MP, and when he became a Paladin, he got healing magic instead, so fighting Dark Cecil was like. A guaranteed win because he would literally burn himself away to kill you, representing cecil's failings. it FUCKING RULED
