Hopefully that, plus the number of fash who have already been arrested, plus other news reports on sentencing for the riots, plus cooler weather, will deter some of the other planned riots for this coming weekend. The vast majority of people here are really sick of this violence now. Not just likely targets like us immigrants or POC, but most people in general are fed up.

It's also at least a bit funny that the fash tried it on in Brighton, which for obvious reasons isn't one of the likely locations for a fascist uprising. A handful of them were surrounded by a police cordon amongst hundreds of antifascist, antiracist protestors. I mean looks like 4 or 5 fash tried to gather outside immigration services, and then were stuck there for hours till police had to escort them out. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Liverpool again turned out a huge counterprotest too. Walthamstow as well. Some ruckus in other areas, but mostly not as bad as it's been till now.

I have no doubt the fashy grifters will keep pushing their anti-immigrant line after this. They might go comparatively quiet for a little bit, but people like Yaxley-Lennon or Farage depend on the grift for funding or to feel relevant. So it's not going to stop in that sense.

And speaking of the fash, Elon Musk retweeted out a doctored headline then had to delete it. So misinformation continues.

The underlying problems remain. I doubt Starmer has the bravery or morals to start pointing out how much immigration contributes to British society. Like picking out just one example, the NHS would probably collapse if all the immigrants working in it left. Around 19% of all NHS staff are immigrants.

At the same time, two Filipino nurses were unfortunately targeted during the riots, while trying to get to work. The talking points are there to start emphasising the value of immigration. Really no one should be targeted by racism or xenophobia, no matter their profession or lack of it. But also it's particularly grim that during a time when health services - are already under strain, that some NHS workers have to feel unwelcome or unsafe here because of racism and xenophobia.

Labour could also counter misinformation about asylum seekers specifically. Like a common accusation is refugees take up council housing. But they don't have the right to access that. Or asylum seekers are accused of "stealing British jobs". But the vast majority are banned from working while waiting for a decision.

I don't know if we'll see a push to counter all the lies directly. But it really should happen anyway.
