EDIT: this was originally a response to a couple of posts by someone who's no longer on cohost discussing how shaky this site's financial situation is. i've decided to leave this response as it originally was in spite of the posts this was a response to (and every comment on those posts) no longer existing.
Agreed on all points but wanted to add that it's seriously time for everyone here to go ahead and archive all their posts here onto their hard drives, something made more difficult by the fact that cohost has no easy way for users to do that. No "export/download my data as a .zip file" button in account settings, and staff doesn't seem to care much about implementing such a feature at the moment. kinda shocking for a website that feels like it's more and more on borrowed time the more you think about it.
and yeah, gonna be brutally honest here, hearing about all this has genuinely seriously eroded my trust in staff's ability to run cohost in the long term. and in turn, cohost's long term viability. It's incredibly frustrating to hear that a monthly financial update was almost entirely missed because "oh, we thought we already did it". How does staff miss something like that, especially when the latest staff post is right on the friggen dashboard? =\
Don't get me wrong. i feel terrible making this post and sounding all doomer. i know posts like this tend to be either ignored or trashed because "doomer bad". i want cohost to succeed as a platform as much as anyone else here. and i've greatly enjoyed my time here, loved seeing my art find an audience here. i'm sticking around, but i seriously hate that things feel so precarious. like this ship's gonna sink sooner rather than later.
