Single player gaming is really underrated nowadays.
Including playing with friends! Though it's not the same via discord/twitch as it is in person to me.
I love singleplayer games but I do genuinely cherish the co-op experiences I have had more recently which make up for years of having an absolute Dogshit Time with multiplayer anything
What coop based, preferably non sandbox, games are good nowadays?
Not something I've ever looked into but I feel like I should keep one or two in my pocket.
Admittedly I’ve grown a serious fondness for horde-shooting stuff with people I’m super close with. Deep Rock Galactic is a very good time that doesn’t stop being satisfying, as is vermintide and Aliens: Fireteam Elite
Also cannot recommend enough getting a little group together for a fucked up game called Barotrauma, where you’re the crew of a submarine transporting goods and clearing hostile fauna across the subsurface oceans on the moon Europa. This like the others may be a tense and stressful time but it also has some of the most fun and hilarious emergent gameplay going on.
