Something that absolutely was fundamental to the way you write, or the things you love, or other stuff, and you are also forced to acknowledge that said thing is alltogether just not very good. maybe it's a Lot Worse Thematically in retrospect, maybe it's just very badly written; but what's the thing where you're like "yeah this was a big deal to me" and also you really will probably never go back to for very, very good reasons?
Honestly, probably the twilight books. On reread you can find a million problems with them, and I don't have the patience for them anymore but I do have to admit that's where my taste for monster boyfriends started! It had a lot of influence on how I think about romance writing, and I STILL reassess the love triangle in it for lessons on what I Don't want to do in my stories.
And, fuck, the movie's just fucking funny at this point.
