I continue to have not finished nier automata and I Never Will, I already had basically the entire story spoiled for me by its fans like a month or two after its release, so shrug (I also was never really taken with what I played anyway, so this isn't really a big loss).
I'm very lucky that I got to Undertale RIGHT before it exploded in popularity, so the entire internet didn't have the chance to overexpose me to Undertale before I even got to play it; like it did for lots of people I know, and like it did for me for Nier A. I'm still, admittedly, bitter about that but can't muster any energy to care about a story that was as hyped up as it was.
A natural consequence of everyone screaming about how deep and meaningful and emotionally impactful a piece of media is, is that no matter how good, you'll probably end up underwhelmed compared to how people describe it. This is why, for the stories and games and Whatever Media that really hits me, I will only talk about them when prompted to gush about them, among trusted friends. Otherwise I keep my trap shut; I don't want the things I like soured for others like so many other things got soured for me.
