Very strange that the two games I'm most invested in playing right now are Hi-Fi Rush (a character action rhythm game that feels like it timewarped from the PEAK of the ps2 era) and Dead Space (The really good Remake of the 2008 game that builds upon RE4's formula in lots of smart ways)

Bear in mind, I'm a zoomer-ass zoomer, young enough to have no real memory of 9/11. I never owned a ps2 and learned about the best games from its apex well into the lifecycle of the ps4. I got Dead Space 1 well after 2 was out (and played 2 for the first time years later). I'm reliving a version of the 2000s I never really got to experience the first time around.

This isn't a bad thing, I'm just caught by this strange nostalgia I feel for things I didn't technically experience before.

Paraphrasing a comment I saw elsewhere, "We don't sit there watching old shows from our past on Netflix because of just nostalgia. We watch them because the writing was actually good compared to the crap people put out today."

And as the resident cranky old fart in the room trust me when I say the same can be said of video games. One need only look at the list of mass produced nonsense on steam (before you get into the adult games) things with less depth and storytelling than rpgs of the snes or genesis era if you really wanna wayback, and AAA studios just recently in the last couple years getting unseated by Hades. Which imo honestly nails it because it plays with all the flash and style of a Ps2 era game (and is just that damn good) Dead Space 1 being the same when it came out. It was a ground breaker.

Have fun with it with Syn, the 2000's was a great time compared to now =p
