Rich people suck. Inevitably, most of them suck. That's the point of the system: it has control mechanisms in place to try and avoid elevating and enriching people who don't suck. There's a system set up to offer the hope of advancement and improvement, and it picks people out at 'random' but a random that tries to avoid, say, black trans furry goths. Sure, some slip through the net, because the system isn't good at it, but if you only give out five golden tickets a year, you can rely on them only rarely landing in the hands of people the system Doesn't Approve Of.
What I wonder about are the people who compare Scott Cawthon to JK Rowling is, like, what does this get you? Do you not remember that finding out JK Rowling sucks shit was like, a bad thing? People didn't like it. People had major parts of their childhood experiences tainted. People suddenly had to look at a media empire and reckon with their ability to avoid it, and try to strip their memories from their origin. It's a nasty experience at the least, and boy, lemme tell ya, I guarantee there are kids who played Wizarding Houses, came up with the obvious Gender Change Potions and roleplayed that for a few years before their eggs shattered. I don't know who or where, but I'm confident it happened. And those people are now having to pick through that sweet story of creation and fandom and shared fictional spaces and pull out the jagged bits of glass of finding that not only do they love something that hates them, but now everyone around them will see their love as a sign that they hate themselves.
It's super easy for me, in the privacy of my own home to go 'huh, Scott Cawthon sucks. Well, fuck him' because I didn't like FNAF and don't care about it. It doesn't hurt me at all. But if you're comparing him to JK Rowling, first, scale (if the dodgy net worth websites are right and Cawthon is worth $60m of Freddy Fazbear Money, she could buy and sell him 16 times over), but second, why are you being so fucking gleeful about it? What are you trying to do with the comparison?
Are you trying to make people feel bad about the discovery that the maker of something they love sucks? Are you trying to point to some hipocrisy that they hate Harry Potter because of JK (who actively has made herself hateable with her public platform) and don't hate FNAF because of Cawthon (who seems to be kinda embarrassed of contributing to Mitch McConnell)?
Like sure, I think Scott sucks especially when he talks about loving his queer fans and then donates to people who materially want to make the world worse for them. That's shitty and stupid and probably comes from a lot of ignorance. But that's him, that's a guy that sucks.
I don't get or appreciate the people who seem to think this is a chance to hurt people by telling them someone whose work they like sucks.
