Here's a link to the announcement, but the core changes are:
- Rakshasas are no longer Cat Demons, they're just Demons
- "Tribal" as a card type has been renamed to "Kindred"
- Nagas are now Snakes
- "Totem Armor" is now "Umbra Armor"
This is pretty cool! Tribal and Totem are words that have particular applications and Wizards saying 'you know what, let's stop throwing those words around like they're generic' is good. The Rakshasa being cats is interesting because Rakshasas are part of real Hindu myth, and they're not cats there. I suspect this is tied to someone sensibly pointing out that 'Rakshasa' being cats is probably literally just repeating 'Gary Gygax thought they looked like cats in the 70s and nobody checked up on that when we made Khans of Tarkir.'
Nagas being snakes though: regardless of why, this is a pleasantly big deal. There are a lot of snake cards that are good and care about having snakes, so suddenly, the Kamigawa snakes have a lot of other snakes to hang out with.
