As someone who basically started with the giant bombcast circa 2008 and then sort of drifted away from listening to podcasts at all until the pandemic, this is absolutely what i thought podcasts were/are for a very long time.
And for me, as someone making podcasts, the metric I've always understood is 'if your podcast is just on youtube, it's not a podcast'
It feels like podcasts have been invented/pioneered at least 5 times since their actual inception, depending on who you listen to.
