I yield to the anxiety brainworms and do something totally frivolous that yields nothing. You have no idea how many games of Solitaire I have absolutely crushed this week. Did you know a solitaire game takes about two minutes to either fail or win? I've learned that.
Also just cocooning yourself in blankets and reading gay manga can help. The way you want to avoid/run from things, especially if you have control of your environment, is a thing your body is telling you to DO, and it's not wrong to respond to it. You're not in denial about what's happening, you're not neglecting things by giving your attention elsewhere, you can just accept 'oh yeah this is bad and I can't do anything about it, so I need to do something that stops me tailspinning'
