I'm Talen! I make videos and articles and games and graphic designs and guides and messes and encouragement. Chances are you can find anything I do on my blog. I like it when you comment on my things, so please do!
2 if you want the cool calming colors for psychology reasons. I really like 3 but I think it would read awfully to the deuteranomalous
No, the colors are significantly different in lightness so it reads just fine, better than 1 for sure.
I personally like 2 the best, but 1 is probably the most typical logo - fewer colours, easily complimentary, low contrast.
Yeah. I guess there's also a case for 'when this is printed in black and white' test, but that is shooting for verisimillitude which may not be necessary for a card back
1 or 4. 1 feels the most natural and looks 'right' but 4 makes the hands element more legible, if that's important, without feeling jarring/weird in the way that the 2 and 3 color schemes do
2 imo. 1 doesn't let the hand/mouth stand out enough, 3 and 4 make it stand out too much
I'm partial to the subtlety of 1, especially given that the “mouth” wasn't intended. That was my reservation about 1—if the “mouth” was intended to be included, it should probably be more prominent, roughly to the level of 2 or 4.
My second choice would be 4, for having the most apple-like combination of colors. 3 is a little too high-contrast, and I don't think gray works here (though that could depend on lore/flavor context I lack).
