Homestuck certainly brings in some tropes and stereotypes about fandom in general as aspects of its characters. I definitely get the sense that some of this is parody, especially later in the comic, but I'm not sure that all of it is.

So an extra-charitable reading of this is that it's a parody of (every) fandom's tendency to over-analyze and over-systematize aspects of "lore," especially romantic relationships and shipping. A less-charitable reading is that it's pandering fan-service to those same impulses. So there's self-awareness of how needless the complication and naming conventions are, but of course self-awareness on its own isn't enough to make something Good, Actually.
