i fr keep trying to give people benefit of the doubt about it and trying to explain that the transfems lashing out have a context they're coming from and people just keep closing their ears to it to try to paint tgirls as hysterical which like. expected behavior but idk cohost really had me fooled for a while so i hoped for better! (using plural for this comment but the main examples of this happening are to rita like u said)

fr, before rita lashed out at all i saw more negativity than i've ever seen on cohost directed towards her for existing, and people ignore that to make it seem like she's mad out of nowhere. idk why it's so hard for people to just leave her alone if they're so scared of an angry trans woman

God, right? Like, the second I came over here, I saw people handwringing about how "the nasty people" from Tumblr were coming to Cohost after the whole Rita thing. This site seems to just love line-dancing about not insulting people directly, and instead just vagueing about how a group of people are going to ruin the mood of this site, and then acting surprised when the people who are part of the group they're vagueing about don't feel super welcomed in the community.

Those same people are now vagueing about how this site isn't peaceful anymore, and there's always some drama happening. And, like. Maybe point your annoyance about that at the people doing the harassing, instead of the people being harassed?

she got a lot of anons, most of which she deleted or didn't answer, but did get a fair number of people replying to her venting asking for sources or telling her she was using cohost wrong by venting. i don't have specifics on hand for the more negative reactions, and some of it she never posted and just talked about elsewhere

for sure, i didn't mean this as a statement that no one involved is transfem-- i still think the public shaming transfems who are extremely transparent about why they're acting the way they are is bad and ends up feeding into transmisogynistic feedback loops even when coming from other transfems and even when well intentioned. i just think it's better to ignore someone who's lashing out after being pushed to their lowest rather than post extensively about them (using them to refer to the general concept, tho in this case this is mostly happening to Rita in specific)

i will concede that the thing you said about aly's post being overly public facing and finger-pointy and such encouraged me to delete my rehost of it. i have to confess that me reaching out to her at all was a combination of shock at her conduct and opinions on transmasc people and hope that i could get her to see that that shit don't fly here and it's not just the mods who think so (and i reported her suicide bait as well as the THREE suicide baits i got, not to Get her but because it's fucking not okay and i don't want to see her do that shit again). i was clearly wasting my time but most of my ask had to do with refuting her transphobic worldview and encouraging her to embrace her siblings. lack of perspective on my part plus debate club tendencies, but i am really worried about the "baeddel" etc types that are just going to tell her she's always right about everyone outside of their bubble

a couple people (one of whom is a Pretty Substantial Presence) were very condescendingly suggesting that she be banned For Her Own Good, essentially. more or less "well, if she's just going to have meltdowns and complain about the website, why should she be here? it'd be better for her to just force her to leave"

which . i should hopefully not have to explain how skin-crawlingly miserable that is to do to anyone but Particularly to someone who's been pulled through the particular ringer rita's been dealing with for the past billion months
