in reply to @Tanuki-Computing's post:

If your tablet manufacturer doesnt provide drivers for linux, OpenTabletDriver might be worth a shot, but in my experience it was meh (probably my tablet's fault).
Either way you should check if your tablet model is supported on OTD if no official drivers are available

Their discord was kind of helpful when, despite my tablet being on the supported models' list, it didnt recognize it. But besides that theyre a bit like "read the guides smh" (pretty common on linux stuff, sadly)

havent used it much recently due to some issues with OTD and lack of official support, but i have a Genius mousepen i608x. in the software side of thing i used firealpaca, but i've heard krita is good too.

if i remember correctly, wacom tablets have better linux support, but i havent been able to test that yet

I got an XP Pen Deco LW a few months ago and that worked just fine! I will say that if you have multiple screens or your screen(s) isn't/aren't the same aspect ratio as the tablet (usually 16:9 I think) then you'll have to change the settings and XP Pen's (Linux specifically, windows ones don't) drivers make you have to set that change every time you plug the thing in which I found annoying, it also got funky when I used display scaling and had to mess around and figure out what numbers it wanted for the screen size bc it saw the screen scaled monitor as a different resolution for some reason. But like it works fine, just a bit finnicky if your display situation isn't just one 16:9 display at 100% scaling, at least with XP Pen's linux drivers. If you used the open source alternatives it might work better????????? Could mb set settings changes to macros so you have to mess around less often if it still resets settings when you unplug and plug it back in. But I had fun with it, Krita worked great and picked up the tablet just fine and I could draw just fine. That was with a standard tablet without a display though, not sure about ones with displays, those might be better or worse ahaha.
