a lot of people will say "oh a tumblr sexyman is this" or "oh a tumblr sexyman is that" but they describe things that all websites do. things that weren't really tumblr trends, just general sexuality trends. what we gotta do is nail down exactly what was unique about tumblr brain derangement
a tumblrsexyman isn't about the sexy or the man, it's about the bafflement you feel when you are confronted with it. it's about going "why did you draw the triangle as a hot guy" or "this character appears on screen for literally 10 seconds". the less a character SHOULD be a sexy man, the more they fit the category.
the archetype, thus, is a character with no human form or even close representation (whether that be because they are audio only, not in any way human, or whatever) being drawn as a smirking white guy. THAT'S peak TumblrSexyMan right there. your favorite marvel characters don't count, but by god that random drawing of a podcast character playing a disembodied head or something that a bunch of people on tumblr drew as a hot white boy is Exactly It
