Does anyone else on here, have a Sun Microsystems type 7 keyboard? ’Cause, while Linux does support a Compose key1, the actual Compose light on the device won’t light when I press it.

  1. Interestingly, when connected the Compose key is actually recognized as a Menu key, though I changed it to be a Compose key in the settings.

Also interesting: while Linux recognizes most of the extra keys of the board, the Properties and Foreground keys are seen as “0x10” (this is using the keyboard settings shortcut menu) and don’t output anything. There is a setting also, for supporting older Sun keycodes, but it does something also strange. F11 and F12 are seen as “0x10”, the Stop and Undo key become F11 and F12, and all the other extra keys become Function keys (Properties F13, Redo F14 &c. But Help stays the same).
Very strange.

Thank you :3. It should say which type it is on the back (on mine, the label is actually part of the plastic case, though it might be a sticker on other models). The Linux keyboard settings, have a category called “Use keyboard LED to indicate modifiers”, with “Compose” as the only option, seemingly for boards like this with a dedicated Compose key light. Oddly, googling the problem, only showed me unanswered forum posts, regarding the same issue.
