me: I am fundamentally opposed to the use of ai to replace human creativity or provide pointless and often wrong summaries. the waste of resources needed to prop them up is staggering

my therapist: that's fair

me: but I love it when the protagonist has an ai buddy that floats alongside them and gives them updates on the current situation and status and can hack computers and pilot a vehicle in a pinch

i wonder if 10 years from now we'll have to explain what AI used to mean, or whether the current stuff will fall apart. Its fascinating to me that Apple's ads for gen AI writing and email summaries fail so hard at understanding how normal human beings might use these technologies in non-creepy ways. Will they turn things around or is the ick just always gonna be there?

I feel like it won't even be 10 years before we get to most people using "ai" the same way shitty tech companies do, it's already all over normal people news and advertising. At least normal people seem to be realizing how empty and worthless it all is.

I still think it's funny how many business types haven't realized that if you need an "ai" to write your email or do your meeting, that maybe they didn't need that email or meeting at all. It's like all the work-from-home stuff defuncting offices.
