The worst image I ever made…
Today, I saw a post about how someone had one more Cohost send off match on their Half-Life 1 deathmatch server; and it made me remember, something I wanted to do on here: I wanna play some Quake deathmatch, but since there’s not always many people in the servers on the online servers list, I had planned to drop a room invite code on here and play with whoever came! Well, since this site goes read-only next Tuesday, and then gets deleted at the end of the year, I decided I’m gonna do that while I still can!!
I think the best Quake game to use would be the Quake II remaster: it’s available basically everywhere (Steam, GOG, Switch, Playstation, Xbone, Gameclam, Ouya &c.), with crossplay, and it doesn’t require the stupid Bethesdanet login stuff for online play (otherwise I’d use Quake I). I’m thinking next Saturday, around 6-7 PM CEST and then go for maybe 1-2 hours, I’m not sure yet. I’ll just make a post giving out the room code (note: the max amount of players per server is 16).
I wanna note that I’m on Linux; Quake II does run fine through Proton, and I haven’t had any issues playing Quake II online, but just in case that’s gonna cause problems I wanna have people know that!! Adding to that, for voicechat, I dunno if Proton is able to use my microphone, if not, maybe we’ll have to use Discord or something.
This is my first time organizing, well, anything really, so I can’t guarantee that his won’t end in a big mess, but better to try and fail, than never try at all right?
Please let me know: if you’d be interested, if you like the silly image I made, if you even like Quake, or how your days been going— I’d love to hear.
Lastly: what do you think the frag and time limit should there be (or even no time limit)?
EDIT: I make two polls for these questions:
Sadly, no one showed up! No matter, I’ve should’ve probably have advertised/organized it better.
I still had some fun playing against a bot opponent, though the maps in this game are definitely designed around more than two players (most of the time was spend aimlessly wandering around, hoping to find the other player— didn’t help that the bot seemed to sometimes run away from me).
Oh well, it was worth a shot :)
