Hi! I suspect I might have OCD but I definitely have several BFRBs: trichotillomania, dermatillomania, dermatophagia.
The best coping mechanism I have found so far is unfortunately a product, but it’s pretty affordable, makes a fantastic wishlist item for birthdays or other times you receive gifts, and is just also a lot of fun when you’re brain is this finicky about everything.
Pick n’ Peel Stones are a stim toy specifically designed for people compelled to pick and pull. They are lava stones covered in a proprietary silicone material, and they come with a set of tweezers and what looks like a dental scraper so you can pick out the silicone from the gaps in the rock. It satisfies my compulsions to pick and squeeze at my skin, pull my hair, and chew on my lips and fingers.
