All you wanted to do was just walk around the base, no glowing indicator on your RCGs telling you where to go, you left them at the apartment. That was a mistake. This place may be underground, but its so Freaking Huge!
Ten minutes, thats all it took to get lost. Wait... The hell is that clanging noise? You look around and spot a little shop with a small smokestack and a little sign with a caliper, hammer and scissors superimposed over an anvil.
Fuck it, already lost, might as well check it out. You open the door and step in, immediately noticing the heat radiating out of the back like a blast furnace, even with the door closed. There are shelves lined with knives and diagrams for all kinds of weaponry, and a small counter with a small waiters bell that is simply labeled 'Ring Me'. You ring the bell... Why was there no ringing? The clanging isn't not that loud even in the shop. You try again. And again.
The door to the back slams open. A possum woman rushes out and slams her hand over the bell. "I HEARD IT THE FIRST TIME!" She looks pretty normal, red hair held back in a ponytail, hammer in hand and wearing heavy clothes and a leather aron with the same symbol as the sign outside on the left breast. You notice the goggles on her head are pink, just like your RCGs. You're really wishing you hadn't left them at home.
"Hello? You've been starin' for a few minutes now. I assume you didn't come here to gawk? You a customer?" You explain to the lady how you got lost. "Kay, I think I get ya. Give me a sec and I'll try to help ya. I gotta finish this project real quick, should only take 10 minutes. Feel free to look around the shop!"
She walks in the back and closes the door, dropping the temperature by a good bit. How was she not sweating in all those layers? Ah well. You decide to look around a bit. The shop is... How is it this big? Its at least 400 square feet and the outside looks a lot smaller than that. This is more like a warehouse!
...Whatever, you have stuff to look at! There are a few swords and a spear hanging on the wall behind the counter, and a lot more in display cases, all with the calipers, hammer and scissors logo. Is it a brand thing? There are knives in the case next to the door, some big enough to be short swords. Are they short swords? What are these rocks in this one? Oh it says "ores" on the label. Wait, some of these aren't real. Mythril and orichalcum are myths, and what the hell is this bright blue one? Its label is blank. "Oh yeah, i forgot to finish labeling these. That one is adamant, its super durable, and it holds enchantments really well, but its super had to work with. Plus, i have to have you fill out a bunch of forms if you want something made of it. Its really hard to get."
You didn't notice her come up behind you and you jump a little. "You okay? Sorry if i scared ya. I walk kinda quiet. Anyway, see anything you like?" You kinda liked that knife in the corner. It reminds you of Nettlebane, that one knife in Skyrim. "Oh, that one... No. I'm not selling you a cursed item. I only made that to see if I could. Pick something else."
Why would she display it if it wasn't for sale? Oh well, what about the one next to it. It kinda looks like its glowing? "Sure, I'll sell you that one, its safe to use. Its just a standard mythril blade with a light enchantment on it. Just remember to feed it every once in a while." What does she mean by feed it? Does it need blood sacrifices or something?
"What? NO! Ya gotta channel your magic through it at least once every two weeks. Otherwise the enchantment will have to be reapplied. That reminds me, bring it in at least once a year, I'm the only one that can enchant it. Personal touch, ya know? If ya can't channel magic, you can get someone else to do it, or you can bring it back here." What does she mean by magic? Like mana in a video game?
"I mean, yeah? You can think of it like that. I heard some agents call it Candesca. Its basically the manifested energy of your consciousness ripped right out of the astral plane. Tell ya what, bring it back after your next outing and we'll see if it needs a recharge. Give me a sec and I'll see if I can get this approved." She pulls her goggles down and stares ito space, gesturing slightly sometimes. "Alright, thats all yours. Let me get you a map real quick, its easy to get lost around here." She hands it to you and marks were you are on it. "You can retrace back here with this, just don't lose it!" She shoves you out the door, and as you turn around, the shop is just... Gone. Huh. Welp.
Better get home.
