Hi again everyone! I uh, was hoping to announce this under better circumstances, but I guess the timing also couldn't have been better, in a way? idk, feels kinda awkward to do this now aaaaaa
Um, anyways! I've been chipping away at making a webpage for Meet Me in the Woods over the last few months, and it's finally polished up enough to where I'd like to share it with you all! you'll find the comic's new home at...
🌲 mmitwcomic.neocities.org
I really want to thank all of you who've been reading and following along with this passion project of mine - it's been wonderful knowing that this comic has an audience out there! I hope you'll continue to follow along with this story - I've got plans to enable RSS on the website, to make that a little easier! ;3
UPDATE: RSS has been enabled on the website! (Click here!)
It *should* be working properly, but if anyone runs into issues with it, please do let me know!I've got more updates about the comic's continuation as well, below the cut! (it's a bit long, as a heads up!)
Ahem, alright! I'm sure the biggest question that's probably floating around is "When exactly is Chapter 2 starting?"
Well, to be completely frank, I'm a bit unsure right now!
I'd initially planned to begin work in earnest on the next pages over the course of this summer, but between convention prep, travel, and catching up on commissions, that didn't quite pan out the way I'd hoped it would. And that's on me! I wasn't entirely prepared for how much of my time and energy prepping for and tabling conventions would take...lesson learned!
So, I was only just able to start thumbnailing and sketching pages last month, after doing some needed revisions to the final draft of the script. The good news here is, it's actively in the works now! But, there will definitely be a delay before the next page is released...my optimistic estimate is mid-October, but it could be longer than that. I'd like to try and actually have a buffer this time around, for my own sanity!
The biggest hurdle at the moment is time, which is directly affected by my financial situation! As it stands right now, I spend a lot of time and energy sustaining myself through commission work - things aren't dire, per say, but I'm still largely affected by a series of events that happened last year after my big move that left me in a bit of serious debt and with a large backlog of work to complete. It hasn't exactly been ideal conditions to work on a webcomic, but I've tried my best! ^^"
I'd like to have more time to work on this comic, because it's incredibly important to me! I think about it a lot in my waking hours, and sometimes in my sleeping hours too! Sometimes it feels like my lifeblood, one of a handful of things that drives me forward.
With all that in mind, I've been tossing around a few ideas regarding how I might be able to do all of this. Of course, if you saw my last two posts, you'll know that I've been thinking about creating an optional support tier on my Ko-Fi to help ease things a bit on my end! This is something I'll be implementing soon, and will make a separate announcement for once it's ready!
I've also thought a bit about what it might be like to start up a crowdfunding campaign, something that'd pull together enough money to where I can work on the comic uninterrupted for a month or three. Definitely more of a gamble, but I haven't completely ruled it out.
Either way, I'll still be working on this comic! It's more a matter of how long it'll take at my current pace, and if there's a way to maybe cut down on the time a bit. If anyone else has thoughts or input on this particular topic, please feel free to comment below or reach out to me via email if that feels appropriate! (tuxedodragondoodles@gmail.com)
And that's it for now! If anything else, I just wanted to reassure you all that this comic is still actively being worked on, and will continue regardless of the pace I have to take it at!
Once more, thank you all! 💛
